Being first time parents to twin boys, we didn't really know what toys you buy for each birthday. With them turning 2 would they be ready to ride a bike? What type of toys for 2 year olds for brain development are best? Lots of questions which we look to cover off in this post on the best toys for 2 year old boys.
We've tried to make some recommendations for age appropriate toys that will suit most 2 year olds. Some of the toys referenced are award winning toys that you'll no doubt recognise while others are a bit more obscure and we're hoping you find some toys that you may not have come across before. Some of the toys we look at include:
- Toys for boys that love trucks
- Toys for boys that love pushing buttons
- Toys for boys that like taking things apart
- Toys that encourage brain development for boys
- Outdoor toys for boys
- Time killer toys that are good for taking on a plane for boys
- Toys for autistic boys
What Do 2 Year Old Boys Like for Toys?
What kind of toys do 2 year old boys generally like? From our experience, this can include quite a variety of toys that include:
- Toys that encourage them to explore the world around them. Whether that be a small kitchen set, construction sets or other items which resemble what you have around home (like a coffee machine or lawn mower)
- Problem solving toys are a great way for your child to obviously build on their problem solving skills while also giving their hand and eye coordination a good go. We refer to some in the post but generally wooden blocks, puzzles and other problem based toys are a must have!
- While not a 'toy' as such, books are a great for early literature and brain development. Most children at the age of 2 are at an age where they begin to understand books and should be included in their routine whether that's during the day or a read before they goto bed.
