With summer fast approaching in some parts of the world, keeping your baby cool while they're in a stroller becomes a concern. Some people swear by wrapping a muslin wrap over the stroller while we prefer using a stroller fan to help keep your little one cool.
While we've looked at some of the best twin strollers on the market in the past, we thought it'd be of use for our readers to touch on some of the best stroller fans on the market. We share what to look for when buying a stroller fan while also sharing some of our favourite stroller fans on the market in this post.
Best Stroller Fans Compared
What to Look for When Buying a Stroller Fan
Buying a stroller fan isn't rocket science but we wanted to share some tips on what we recommend looking for when buying one for the first time. This includes:
- Fan Protection - You want a fan that has a protective cover over the front to avoid your baby from accidentally touching the blades.
- Battery - Are you happy charging the fan by USB or would you prefer to use a AA battery? Some fans come with both while others don't. We prefer one's that come with the option to use both as it means you have a backup (AA battery) for when your USB rechargeable goes flat.
- Attaching Mechanism - Stroller fans generally rely on a clip on mechanism to fix to your stroller OR relies on a flexible legs which wrap around poles to attach.
- Rotates - Once you've got your fan in position, you might need to tinker with it slightly to get it blowing nicely on your little one. We recommend getting a fan that rotates 360 degrees to help with getting it in the right position.
- Fan Speeds - You want a fan that comes with different fan speed options. We generally recommend looking for a fan that has 2-3 power settings minimum.
- Run Time - Generally most fans will run for around 2 hours minimum. Any longer will depend on what power setting you're using.
- Noise Levels - You want a fan that is quiet as there's nothing worse than a tired baby that can't sleep.
What are the Benefits of Using a Stroller Fan?
There's a few reasons that we recommend using a stroller fan. Some of these benefits of a stroller fan include:
- Keep Cool - An obvious one but they help keep your baby cool on those warm days when you're keen to get outside but don't want them to get too hot.
- Keeps Bugs Away - One of the benefits we didn't realise until we bought one was the fact that stroller fans can keep bugs away! How great is that?
- Form of Entertainment - Your baby might even be entertained by the fan and enjoy watching it spin.
How to Clean a Stroller Fan?
Similar to regular based fans, we recommend using compressed air to clean the dust from your stroller.
If things get on the fan that you need to get off, we recommend disconnecting the fan from its power source and giving it a good spray with disinfectant and then wipe clean. Let dry before powering back on.
Opolemin Stroller Fan
What We Liked
What We Disliked
The Opolemin Stroller Fan is a bit different to some of the other stroller fans we review in this article thanks to the flexible legs design. The legs are inspired by the famous GorillaPod tripod that's used by photographers by flexibly attaching to any pole. This works great for attaching to a stroller.
In terms of power capacity and battery, the Opolemin Stroller Fan is USB rechargeable and provides around 2.5 to 6 hours of charge depending on what level of power you use.
Speaking of power levels, the Opolemin Stroller Fan has 3 different speed levels of Low, Medium and High.
We really like how small the Opolemin Stroller Fan packs away. This is also largely thanks to the relatively light weight of the fan (350 grams).
